The Bermuda Sailing Association (BSA) is the governing body for the sport of sailing in Bermuda and is recognised by the Bermuda Government and the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). The BSA formed more than 30 years ago by the sailing clubs of the island, the racing classes and individuals who participate in sailing activities. The BSA seeks to further the sport of sailing in Bermuda. From the Olympics to the Youth Worlds, from J125’s to Optimists, the BSA acts as Bermuda’s intermediary with ISAF on your behalf.
The role of the BSA is to
1 – serve as the forum for the advancement and support of sailing in the community
2 – represent the interests and aspirations of its membership to the Government
3 – communicate the rules and regulations of ISAF
make representation to ISAF with regard to the formulation of those rules and regulations
4 – serve as the liaison between the various boat clubs and racing clubs
The Objectives of the BSA are to
1 – promote and encourage Sail Racing in Bermuda
2 – encourage our membership to participate in overseas competition
3 – introduce the sport of sailing to all segments of the community
4 – extend the current extensive support for introductory level sailing through to the youth level on a year round basis
5 – coordinate the approach to sailing instructions offered by the various club and government programs
6 – provide the framework and logistical support for our competitors to succeed at the International and Olympic levels.
